Valentine’s Day Wine and Chocolate Pairing at Bellevue’s Fruit Wine Co.

by | Feb 12, 2024

This Valentine’s Day, one extraordinary bottle shop, Fruit Wine Co., is doing what it does best — cultivating community through the magic of wine, art and food.

The boutique retailer tucked away in the northwest corner of Bellevue, Washington, features a classic selection of local neighborhood favorites as well as wines from different regions around the world, all with a mindful focus on selecting labels that practice responsible farming and sustainable winemaking methods.

But how Jackson Rohrbaugh and his crew of wine-loving colleagues wield a truly outstanding business lies in their pledge to host a variety of fun wine-centric events that engage patrons from all walks of life. Whether you’re interested in learning how to make pasta from scratch to pair with wines from Italy, or simply want to have a conversation about what song matches the vibe of your favorite varietal, there’s always a glass of wine to be enjoyed and a new friend to be made here.

On Wednesday, February 14, Fruit Wine Co. will host a Valentine’s-themed popup at their Bellevue storefront, featuring chocolate-and-wine pairings expertly crafted by French chocolatier Anne-Laure from Wild Peaks Chocolates. In addition, there will be a bouquet-building workshop by Jess Buttermore featuring local flowers from farmer Laura Morimoto. Artist Kaylee Dorsey will also be on site with her handmade jewelry.

The PAIRINGS:

WIne: Maison Antech “Emotion” Crémant de Limoux Rosé NV
Chocolate: Wild Peaks Dark Chocolate Heart

The fragrant citrusy and floral notes of the wine pair wonderfully with candied orange and tart cranberry in the chocolate.

Wine: Corte Sant’Alda Valpolicella Rosso 2021
Chocolate: Wild Peaks Praliné Mediants

The rich caramelized flavors of the mediants perfectly compliment the notes of warm spices and dark chocolate covered cherry flavors in the wine.

Wine: Gutierrez-Colosia Cream Sherry NV
Chocolate: Wild Peaks Hazelnut & Feuilletine Praliné filled Heart

With sweet and toasty qualities, this sherry deliciously matches the creamy mouthfeel and nuttiness of the hearts.

The Fruit Wine Co. is located at 1950 130th Ave NE, Suite 1, Bellevue. All ages are welcome, but you must be 21 or over to participate in tastings. To make reservations for the Wine and Chocolate Event please click here.
