Scoring a Goal with Axe & Rose Pinot Noir

by | Aug 7, 2026

The 107IST (107 Independent Supporters Trust) and Sidereus Vineyard and Winery announce a new wine release that celebrates the passion, joy, and support surrounding Oregon’s professional soccer teams, along with Oregon’s signature grape, Pinot Noir. The limited-edition wine, 2024 Willamette Valley Axe & Rose Pinot Noir, is the result of a collaboration between 107IST (a nonprofit organization that backs the Timbers Army and the Rose City Riveters), and Sidereus Winery, whose staff are avid soccer fans. For each bottle sold, $2 will contribute to the 107IST’s philanthropic efforts supporting the region’s youth soccer and community initiatives, which include education opportunities and volunteer activities.

Wine release parties will showcase Axe & Rose Pinot Noir in conjunction with upcoming Timbers and Thorns games. Those details follow.

Why does the collaboration and new sports fan-branded wine matter?

This wine release continues the celebratory momentum for soccer fans following the recent FIFA World Cup and with the Portland Timbers and Thorns season in full force. While many fans may love beer, this wine introduces fans to the Oregon wine industry, which is renowned around the world for Pinot Noir.  All the while, all sales contribute to the 107IST’s nonprofit efforts enhancing local communities. Overall, the economic environment has been challenging for the wine industry, where wine is considered a luxury product. When Sidereus Winery’s hospitality manager and longtime 107IST member, Zach Mance, worked to bring this innovative idea to life, it was a changemaker opportunity to deliver Sidereus Pinot Noir in a unique package and utilizes extra wine resulting from a bountiful 2024 grape harvest.

About the Wine

Production of 2024 Willamette Valley Axe & Rose Pinot Noir was led by Sidereus Winery’s winemaker Jason Bull. The wine includes a blend of three different Pinot Noir clones: Dijon 777, 667 and Wädenswil. After picking, the clones were destemmed and fermented separately for 10 days. Following fermentation, the grapes–now wine, were pressed and settled before being put into barrels. Each clone wine was aged separately in French oak for 12 months before the blend was created. The blend then matured in French oak for another six months to homogenize before bottling. The wine displays aromas of cherry, blackberry, plum, pepper, cedar, and subtle spice notes. The palate has similar fruit flavors along with a soft mid-palate that adds to the long and balanced finish. Guided by the philosophy that “great wine comes from great fruit,” the winery strives for minimal intervention to create wines rich in flavor with depth and balance, and are a true representation of the fruit, land, soil and season. The Axe & Rose wine label showcases the 107IST logo and the Timbers Army and Rose City Riveters crests with Sidereus Winery and required legalese on the back side.

All total, 124 cases were produced of this special edition bottle. Sales begin today online, and at Sidereus Winery (located west of Portland), The Axe & Rose Legends Pub, and local stores: Sip City and 11th Avenue Liquor. The cost varies per retailer.
