Kirkland Uncorked: July 19-21

by | Jun 20, 2013

Uncorking the feast-ival of the east

Pulling corks, wheeling in food trucks and preparing for the festival that keeps the party going east of Seattle. Kirkland Uncorked will roll onto the shore of the city’s waterfront July 19–21 with the biggest festival of drink, feasts and art around it.

For seven years, Kirkland Uncorked has shown Seattle they aren’t the only city around who can throw an awesome food and wine shindig. This year is business as usual, featuring more than 70 of Washington’s awarded wineries and 15 of the area’s top chefs.

Admission will gain you access to the wine tasting with a glass and 10 tokens to immerse yourself in the local wines offered. When that moment arrives where you find the wine you want to come home with you, the wine shop presented by The Grape Choice will help get you setup.

Participating wineries include Zebra Cellars, Cairdeas Winery, Kaella Winery, Swiftwater Cellars and many more.

Wine won’t be the only thing flowing at this festival. The beer garden is tapping into kegs from a variety of Pyramid Brewery’s five different brews.

What doesn’t say summer more than grilling? Not the annual Grill-Off Competition on Kirkland’s waterfront that’s for sure. This Saturday event will feature three Puget Sound culinary legends: Bobby Moore of Barking Frog, Andrew Gribas of Volterra Restaurant and Mark Bodinet of Cedarbrook Lodge.

New festivities joining the party this year is the inaugural Food Truck Feast and Burger Brawl. On Friday, the Burger Brawl will have people dining on bite-sized burgers from local restaurants to judge and find who will be crowned the true king of burgers east of Seattle. Then on Sunday, 20 food trucks are rolling onto the walkways with feasts from specialty grilled cheeses to waffles in a wagon and some southern Cajun comfort.

If not only for the food, wine and art, go for the benefit of knowing you’re helping a good cause. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Hope Heart Institute, whose research helps to fight, prevent and treat heart disease.

Saturday, July 19 – Sunday, July 21 || Times vary || Marina Park || 25 Lakeshore Plaza Kirkland || Tickets: $25 w/ tasting, $20 w/o tasting
