Hops for Heroes: Operation Homefront

by | May 22, 2014

Memorial Day is meant to honor the men and woman who have risked their lives to serve our country, and we think that the perfect way to do so is with a glass of Homefront IPA raised high in a grateful toast. Homefront IPA is an extraordinary charity beer crafted with the help of multiple well-known breweries and contributors across the country where 100-percent of its proceeds support Operation Homefront, a national organization dedicated to improving the lives of the families of our nation’s heroes as well as wounded warriors with financial, food, and medical assistance.

In 2011, Seattle’s Fremont Brewing Company and Center of the Universe Brewing Company in Ashland, Virg., teamed up with Operation Homefront to brew an IPA that does much more than quench one’s thirst. Not only will your conscience be sated by your charitable contribution with the purchase of a Homefront IPA, but the flavor will do nothing short of impress your palate due to its having uniquely been aged on Louisville slugger maple bats.

What started with two breweries has continued to steadily grow every year and now includes 11 contributing breweries that expand across 11 different states:

Center of the Universe Brewing Company, Ashland, VA
Fremont Brewing Company, Seattle, WA
Sly Fox, Pottstown, PA
Cigar City Brewing, Tampa, FL
Perennial Artisan Ales, St. Louis, MO
Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Houston, TX
21st Amendment Brewery, San Francisco, CA
Left Hand Brewing Company, Longmont, CO
Stone Brewing Company, Escondido, CA
Palmetto Brewing Company, Charleston, SC
Maui Brewing Co., Lahaina, HI

After raising $80,000 in 2013 with the help of six participating breweries, Operation Homefront strives to more than double their success with this year’s craft ale. They are set to brew nearly 24,800 gallons of beer in 800 barrels.

This Memorial Day, show your gratitude to our veterans in the most American way possible—by raising a bottle of beer.
