5 New PNW Breweries to Find

by | Mar 7, 2017

The Northwest is infamous for its passion for the great outdoors, delicious food, and most importantly, craft beverage. A Mecca for craft beverage, new breweries are constantly popping up to compete with the ever-growing scene and it is not surprising that these five new breweries are wanting to try out their luck in this exciting industry. To that enthusiasm, we raise a glass!

Figurehead Brewing Co. | Seattle
Neighbors Bob Monroe and Jesse Duncan talked their friend Jesse Warner into bringing their passion to life. A decade of experience and a love of homebrewing brought Figurehead Brewing to the Seattle craft beer scene in September. The neighborhood brewery focuses on making high quality English-and Belgian-inspired ales but with a nod to demand by keeping an IPA on tap for the city’s hopheads.

Ross Island Brewery | Portland
Inspired by his love of the outdoors, great beer and quality craftsmanship, Cartson Haney held a soft opening for his own brewery in late January. Located in the historical Brooklyn neighborhood of Portland, English ales claim the thrown in the taproom and are to be enjoyed in the relaxed fashion of the Rose City offers.

Andina Brewing | Vancouver, B.C.
Just having opened a few days ago, this microbrewery located in the heart of East Vancouver is weaving south of the border flavors throughout their beer and unique food menu. The first to do so in Canada, Andina uses Patagonia malt from Chile giving their beers a unique taste of vibrant Southern American culture. Stop by for some of their daily rotating ceviches and a frosty IPA for a unexpected, flavorful match.

Mad Swede Brewing | Boise, ID
After spending a good amount of their lives as engineers, owners Jerry and Susie Larson decided it was time to put their knowledge of science and art into creating craft beer. Since the opening in October, beers such as the seasonal chocolate and coffee Varangian Nectar stout have been shared between locals and tourists of Boise alike over a bowl of complimentary popcorn.

Victor 23 Brewing | Vancouver, WA
An ode to the mysterious disappearance of D.B. Cooper along the Victor 23 flight path, this small-batch brewery embraces the adventurous side of the PNW and owner Bryan Ward’s affinity for handcrafted, high quality beer. Visitors from Oregon and Washington alike have stopped by since the opening in late September to try out fan-favorites such as the piney and citrus-infused Skyjacker IPA that keeps craft beer connoisseurs coming back for more.
