Vocals Near the Vines

by | Apr 22, 2014

We preview the inaugural list of what’s to come for summer winery-concerts.

Considering the fact that rain boots, The North Face jackets and umbrellas still litter the landscape of the Pacific Northwest in full force, it may be hard to believe that summer is right around the corner bringing with it warm weather and a plethora of outdoor activities. One category of such summer festivities that we are most excited for involves a handful of our favorite things: good artists, better wines and beautiful scenery.

With the summer of 2014 comes an impressive list of headliners waiting to take the outdoor stages of various wineries amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. If you are interested in listening to impressive vocals and instrumentals while sitting near the very vines that produced the glass of wine that you are sipping on, these events are for you.

Since each location will host different artists and their levels of family friendliness vary, a perfect match exists for everyone. Well-known names as well as local artists will grace the stages at one or multiple locations. Look through the following list to find the event best for you.

Chateau Ste Michelle: Back for the 30th year on the winery lawn, guests can choose among 19 headliners and enjoy the musical talent of well-known artists including but not limited to Styx & Foreigner, Merle Haggard, Allen Stone, Sarah McLachlin and The Goo Goo Dolls in the Chateau Amphitheatre. Hurry, because tickets are on sale now and some shows have already sold out! Reserved seating and general admission lawn tickets are both available with varying ticket prices. || 14111 NE 145th St., Woodinville, WA

Oak Knoll Winery: Wine, dine and enjoy classic rock tunes on the lawn at Oak Knoll Winery. Picnic dinners are encouraged while drinks must be purchased within the venue.  These are family friendly events—$5 admission for those 21 and older, free for minors. || 29700 SW Burkhalter Rd. Hillsboro, OR

At the Disco, Foster the People, or Lyle Lovett, to name a few, in a packed outdoor amphitheater or being up close and personal with a piano player in a dimly lit lounge, McMenamins Edgefield has the event for you. Ticket prices range from free to triple digits with some events allowing minors while others do not. || 2126 SW Halsey St. Troutdale, OR
