The Vintages Trailer Resort Celebrates Oregon Wine Month with Appearances from Top Local Winemakers

by | May 1, 2023

Every Friday in May, The Vintages will highlight a boutique wine producer

As part of the hotel’s celebration of Oregon Wine Month, The Vintages Trailer Resort will host four boutique wineries —CHO Wines, Matzinger Davies Wine Company, Pray Tell Wines, and Suzor Wines—and their winemakers on Fridays this May. Friday stays during the month will include a complimentary evening wine reception featuring a boutique winemaker from the Willamette Valley and the chance to taste the highlighted winery’s current releases, many of which are only available locally and made in limited quantities.

When selecting wineries for this first-ever partnership, General Manager Therese Straight prioritized small producers making wines of the highest quality. “We wanted to give our guests the opportunity to experience a few of the hidden gem producers in our area–the family-run passion projects that make some of the most exciting wines in the Willamette Valley but that don’t often end up on the average wine tasting itinerary.”

The featured wineries set to appear at The Vintages in May (full schedule below) do not currently have tasting rooms open to the public. As such, resort guests will have the rare opportunity to taste and purchase wines with the winemakers themselves in The Vintages’ private Clubhouse.

Oregon Wine Month Pouring Schedule:

Friday, 5/5: Pray Tell Wines with Winemaker Tom Caruso
Tom Caruso opened Pray Tell Wines after working for local luminary Maggie Harrison at Antica Terra, one of the area’s most revered and exclusive wineries. Tom grew up in Philadelphia where he learned to make wine from his Italian grandfather and today makes an impressive array of wines from single-variety bottlings of Gamay, Syrah, and Dolcetto to a skin-contact orange wine made from local Pinot Gris grapes.

Friday, 5/12: CHO Wines with Winemaker David Cho and CEO Lois Cho
David and Lois Cho started sparkling wine-focused CHO Wines after David contributed to the cellars at Argyle Winery and Stoller Family Estate. David is the first Korean-American Winemaker in Oregon, and CHO Wines is quickly becoming one of the Willamette Valley’s most dynamic and exciting producers.

Friday, 5/19: Matzinger Davies Wine Company with Winemaker Anna Matzinger
A partnership between husband and wife winemakers Michael Davies (REX HILL, A to Z Wine Works) and Anna Matzinger (previously of Archery Summit Winery), two of Oregon’s largest and most revered wineries, Matzinger Davies is a boutique brand housed in McMinnville that makes Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache from fruit grown in the Columbia Gorge.

Friday, 5/26: Suzor Wines with Co-Owner/Winemaker Greg McClellan and Co-Owner/Managing Director Mélissa Rondeau
A partnership between married wine industry mavens, Suzor is a small producer of Oregon Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and rosé wines. Greg previously contributed to the cellars at Methven Family Vineyards and Trisateum, and Mélissa, who previously led hospitality at Domaine Roy & Fils, manages the brand’s sales and hospitality operations.

Friday wine receptions will be held at The Vintages Trailer Resort (16205 SE Kreder Road, Dayton, OR 97114) Clubhouse and will be open to overnight guests of the hotel only.
