PORTLAND, Ore. — The Entity Lounge, a high-fidelity vinyl listening lounge, cafe and intimate event venue, will open its doors in October of 2026 at 4538 SE Hawthorne Boulevard. With only 30 seats, the venue is designed from the ground up around a four point sound system and a vigorous night time schedule of style specific DJ sets to begin programming in November.
A Room Built Around the Enjoyment of Music: LISTENING TOGETHER
At the heart of The Entity Lounge is an installed, custom analog sound system, tuned to the room for optimal enjoyment. The Entity lounge didn’t just add speakers as an afterthought, they have built its entire spatial and acoustic design around the system, ensuring that each themed DJ set, be it psych rock, ambient, acid jazz, synth wave, dark wave, R&B, soul, disco, dub, world or even a Grateful Dead set, is received with dedicated precision.
Each “set” is intentionally themed to embrace the rich and diverse musical interests of Portland. Seated DJ sets will be Wednesday – Sunday evenings, two seatings per night,
(7-9pm / 10-12am)
A Beverage Program Built for Everyone
The Entity Lounge’s bar program centers on exquisite choices. Cafe by day, Lounge by night, featuring coffee and tea latte’s, an organic/biodynamic wine selection sourced from local Pacific Northwest producers, a rotating lineup of tapped local beer, ciders and a deep selection of sake — a menu designed to serve the complexities of a diverse community.
Equally central to the concept is the lounge’s commitment to low-ABV and zero-ABV cocktails, crafted with the same precision as their full-proof counterparts. As more guests trend towards “Soft Clubbing”, The Entity Lounge is building its program around expanding offerings towards inclusivity — focused squarely on sharing an elevated quality of experience.
Rounding out the menu is a panini sandwich, finger food and platter program, and yes to weekend brunch, all designed to add another layer of flavor to your sensorial experience.
The Entity Lounge Sound System
With a four point hand built system, featuring Clarion drivers and recovered EAW THX theater subwoofers all powered by an Oregon made Enlightened Audio Design Powermax 6300 amplifier, The Entity Lounge is set to impress both casual listeners and audiophiles alike.
Reservations, Reimagined
The Entity Lounge is rolling out a dedicated app that lets guests reserve seats, build a personal profile, and pre-order drinks and bites before they ever arrive — minimizing wait times and unnecessary interruptions once they’re seated and settled into the music. With the app, there will also be the option to “Uber’ize” your experience and simply let the card on file take care of the bill and skip the check out process altogether. With only 30 seats in the room, the app is expected to be the most reliable way to secure a spot on predictably busy nights, although the website is also an option.
The People Behind It
The Entity Lounge is the brainchild of co-founders Michael and Jamie Manahan (also performing as Jamie Schwabl), a married couple and longtime fixtures of the Pacific Northwest and West Coast underground dance music scenes who now proudly call downtown Portland home.
Michael has spent over three decades as a DJ, music, and event producer rooted in the West Coast festival culture. He serves as lead producer of the Cascadia NW Arts & Music Festival, alongside label ownership at Hunt & Gather Recordings. His production resume also includes work with Decibel Festival, Photosynthesis Festival, Hempfest and Seattle’s Re-bar, one Seattle’s most storied underground theater and nightclubs.
Jamie has spent over two decades as a DJ, producer, and event producer rooted in the West Coast underground music culture. She serves as the co-founder and label boss of Wulfpack Music, alongside event productions under the Wulfpack LA banner. Her performance and production resume also includes appearances at noted West Coast Festivals as well as foundational residencies at some of California’s most storied electronic music institutions.
Together, the pair bring decades of dance-floor instinct, production aesthetic and audio obsession to a room built on a far more intimate scale than the festival stages they’re known for — channeling that same expertise into a space that embraces a true high fidelity lounge experience.
Limited Seats, High Demand Expected
With a capacity of just 30 guests, The Entity Lounge anticipates capacity seatings on opening week and beyond. Prospective guests are encouraged to follow The Entity Lounge on social media and grab the app for early access to reservations and opening announcements.
