Springtime Sipping at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm and Vineyards

by | Apr 15, 2022

Springtime in the Pacific Northwest means an abundance of beautiful flowers start to bloom. While yellow and purple wildflowers steal the show in the Columbia River Gorge and daffodils begin to dot plenty of yards, in Woodburn, Ore., it’s all about the tulips.

Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm has been opening its field up to visitors since 1985. With massive fields of colorful flowers, along with plenty of great activities and food vendors, it’s easy to make a fun-filled day out of visiting.

And while tulips are the main draw, they’re not the only highlight of this family farm. Wooden Shoe Vineyards is also operated under the same umbrella, offering guests the chance to enjoy wine tasting or to grab a glass of wine, beer, cider or even a boozy slushie while they wander the tulip fields.

Ready to celebrate spring with a drink in your hand? Tulip Fest runs through May 1, 2022. Read on to find all the ways to enjoy Oregon crafted beverages while you soak in the view.

Wooden Shoe Vineyards Wine Tastings

The Wooden Shoe Vineyards tasting room is located on-site at the tulip farm, and you can visit once admitted to the festival grounds. Highlights include estate-grown Albariño, along with estate-grown Pinot Noir Rosé. Experience a tasting, or grab wines by the glass to enjoy while walking the tulip fields. Local beer, cider and boozy slushies are also available on tap.

Farm Wine Tours

While you can certainly walk the fields with a glass in hand, Wooden Shoe also offers guided wine tasting tours through the tulips. Choose a time slot Friday through Monday to join in the fun. You’ll board the tram to learn about the farm’s family history, gain wine knowledge, tour the fields and enjoy tastings and pairings along the way.

pFriem Beer Wagon Tour

While you can sample a new Sparkling IPA from pFriem exclusively in the Wooden Shoe tasting room, that’s not the only pFriem offering onsite this year. There are two new tours on April 23 and April 30 at 5 p.m. to sample your way through pFriem brews while riding through the tulip fields.

Sip Specialty Tulip Fest Cider

One of the most delicious collaborations to come out of the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is a partnership with Bauman’s Farm Cider, located just eight miles down the road. Pineapple Black Currant Wave is available exclusively at Tulip Fest, and it’s well worth the visit. Wonderfully balanced with notes of sweet pineapple and tart black currant, it’s fruity and fun. Grab a glass to sip while wandering the fields, and then snag a few bottles to bring home.

Note: Advanced online ticket purchase is required for admittance to Tulip Fest.
