Rockin’ Sips for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

by | May 30, 2013

Rockin’ around the winery

An afternoon spent in the sun listening to live music with a cold beer in hand — now that’s an ideal June day. For something like this, you shouldn’t need a reason to go, but it doesn’t hurt to know your doing some good while you’re at it.

The 5th Annual Rockin’ Sips fundraiser is returning to Woodinville, Wash.’s EFESTĒ Winery Saturday, June 8. Celebrate a hopefully warm afternoon with wine, beer and live music from Seattle’s 70’s disco/funk cover band The Slacks while supporting the efforts of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Winery owners Kevin and Angela Taylor became interested in supporting LLS after their then 5-year-old son Joe was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2006. With help from the LLS, Joe was able to receive treatment, and complete it by 2011.

Since starting Rockin’ Sips five years ago, and their other fundraiser Tough Guy, the folks at EFESTĒ have raised more than $57,000 with help from their community to support the LLS.

A variety of Washington’s wineries and breweries will join the event including: Sparkman Cellars, Ròtie Cellars, Pike Brewing Company and Black Raven Brewing Company.

The afternoon also will include a silent auction featuring local items from a tailgate party for eight from Bill the Butcher to prizes from iFly Indoor Skydiving.

To pre-game for Rockin’ Sips this year, take an exclusive tour and tasting with winemaker Peter Devison in EFESTĒ’s barrel room.

Saturday, June 8 || 3:15-4 p.m. (VIP Wineroom Tour), 4-7 p.m. (Rockin’ Sips) || EFESTĒ Winery || 19730 144th Ave. NE, Woodinville || Tickets: $35 Rockin’ Sips, $35 (additional) VIP Wineroom Tour
