iOTA Cellars 2010 Pinot Noir, Pelos Sandberg Vineyard

by | May 29, 2013

One varietal, one vineyard, one wine and four friends found iOTA Cellars in Amity, Ore. in 2000. Three of the four friends make up the cellar team and commit to small (or iota) lot wines, working with the land and Mother Nature herself, commencing with the 2006 vintage. The 2010 iOTA Cellars Pinot Noir from the estate Pelos Sandberg Vineyard is produced in an iota proportion — with only 402 cases to go around. The wine is unfiltered and unfined, using four different clones of the Pinot Noir grape and revealing the terroir of the estate vineyard. The nose is full of strawberry seeds with a savory herb aroma, while black cherry cola, plum and cigar box fragrances are released with a few moments of air time. The palate is earthy, with red fruits, active acid and fine-grained tannin.
