Leave your socks at home: The Great Portland Grape Stomp brings a wild, Lucille Ball-inspired harvest party to the Crushpad on October 10th
PORTLAND, Ore. – August, 26 2026 – On Saturday, October 10, Portland Wine Company is turning its crushpad into a grape-stomping battleground, inviting wine lovers, neighbors, and curious newcomers to get their feet dirty at Portland’s first urban grape stomp.
For 20 years, Portland Wine Company has made Oregon wine under the Love & Squalor label, growing from a small-batch passion project into an established urban winery. The Great Portland Grape Stomp celebrates the milestone by bringing the traditions of harvest season straight to the city. Part harvest festival, part neighborhood block party, and part I Love Lucy-inspired bacchanalia, the celebration brings the energy of wine country directly to Portland – no road trip required.
“Since launching in 2006, we’ve built a reputation for Oregon wines made from grapes sourced from our state’s renowned wine regions, while currently keeping the winemaking process close to home in Southeast Portland,” said Matt Berson, Vintner and Co-Owner of Portland Wine Company. “After 20 years of winemaking, we thought it was time to let everyone else get their feet dirty. The Great Portland Grape Stomp is a chance to celebrate the people who have supported us, embrace the fun of harvest, and experience a little bit of wine country right here in Portland.”
The centerpiece of the anniversary celebration is the grape stomp. Twenty teams of four will go head-to-head in a five-minute grape-stomping showdown. The team with the most juice will claim the championship crown, a magnum bottle of Love & Squalor Wine, and custom t-shirts.
Beyond the stomp, guests can enjoy an afternoon of Love & Squalor wine, local food available for purchase, games, and live music while cheering on the competitors. General admission tickets include a branded Govino outdoor wine glass, five tasting coupons, and discounts on additional glasses and bottle purchases. A costume contest will add to the riotous, fun, with prizes awarded to the best team costume and best Lucy look-alike.
Whether guests are longtime wine lovers or simply looking for a uniquely Portland experience, The Great Portland Grape Stomp invites everyone to raise a glass, get a little messy and celebrate 20 years of Portland Wine Company and Love & Squalor Wine.
