Eola Hills Wine Cellars 2012 Oregon Pinot Noir

by | Jan 8, 2014

Hot off the printing press comes the new label for Eola Hills Wine Cellars’ introductory level of wines—the 2012 Oregon Pinot Noir and 2013 Oregon Pinot Gris, looking sharp-dressed and clean. Approximately 10 miles west of Salem, Ore., Eola Hills has been maintaining their old school label appeal and feel since 1986 but the new nip and tuck might be a smart marketing move in a hood that is continuously updating for the young and hip on the scene. The 2012 Oregon Pinot Noir has a timid nose at first but cranberries, bright Bing cherries and strawberries are coaxed out over time and dusty earth rounds out the bouquet. The palate is quaffable with cranberry and straightforward with easy acid—an approachable start for beginners to Willamette, at an affordable price for beginners’ pocket depth.
