Traditional ciders, with traditional spelling, Carlton Cyderworks produces a line of ciders that are visually stimulating by label and aromatically stimulating by bouquet. Amidst the breweries and wineries of McMinnville, Ore., Carlton Cyderworks opened their doors in 2009 and have been maintaining their small-batch, artisan production of orthodox ciders ever since. The Citizen is their original cider, in an English-style and a blend of more than a dozen varieties of both bittersweet and bittersharp cider apples. Fermented to dryness but enhanced with a sweetness from organic cane sugar, the Citizen is plugged with a spark of carbonation to make the true apple aromas and flavors pop. A pang of tannins hit while vibrant acid drives through the juicy apple fruit, this cider is straightforward and goes down easy.
