9th Annual Cowichan Wine and Culinary Festival

by | Aug 14, 2013

Give a festival a day and guests will leave wanting more. Give a festival two days and guests still may not be able to take in everything. Give a festival of a region’s bounty a week and guests will rejoice in the entire splendor it has to offer.

Vancouver Island’s beautiful Cowichan region will provide the backdrop for visitors to explore the farms and wineries while traversing winding country roads to taste local eats, wines, spirits and ciders. During the 9th Annual Cowichan Wine and Culinary Festival spend a week reveling in a variety of events sure to showoff the region’s agricultural riches, Sept. 7–15.

The first activity kicks off with the old-fashioned MNP Grape Stomp at the Cowichan Exhibition Fairgrounds. Make a team and prepare to stomp, because this could get messy.

At the Cowichan Long Table ICC Dinner, six local chefs will work together to prepare a fantastic five-course meal paired with the region’s exceptional wines at Dragonfly Farm, Sept. 9. This event marks the first ever Chefs Collaborative meal partnered with the Cowichan Wine Coop. Only 150 seats are available for this event, and it is sure to be a spectacle.

Meet a variety of the region’s winemakers during the “Meet Your Maker” event, Sept. 11. Enjoy an evening sipping and discussing your favorite wines from the Cowichan while taking in the beautiful cottage-like setting of Providence Farm.

Expand your taste of teas at any of the Teafarm’s many events where they’ll be offering samples of teas from far away lands like South America to Morocco and the Darjeeling region of India.

To view the full list of events occurring this week, check out the calendar and you just might find the excuse you need to get yourself to Cowichan.
