5 Stellar Dry Washington Whites for Dry January

by | Jan 25, 2022

Dry January? We got you covered with some dry January whites.

White wine in winter isn’t traditional, but we promise you — going against the norm is sometimes very rewarding. It is important to choose the right winter white, though. You want one that’s  bodylicious, rich and deliciously dry. One that can stand its own when paired with wholesome winter fare. Here are some gorgeous, local, easy-on-the-pocket whites for some dry-style January sipping. (Or any month of the year, really!)

Saviah Cellars 2020 Walla Walla Valley Viognier

This delightful viognier is both herbaceous and super crisp. This multi-dimensional bottling has plenty of fruit and floral notes — peach, orange zest, vanilla bean, honey and honeysuckle. Pair this scented beauty with spicy pad thai, or with a heftier meal such as a robust moroccan tagine.

$33  |  13.3% ABV

Dixie & Bass 2020 Horse Heaven Hills Sauvignon Blanc

This heady, perfumed Sauvignon Blanc from Dixie & Bass makes a strong case for white wine in winter. With distinct flintiness, grassy notes and a zesty mouthfeel, it pairs amazingly with Mexican food. Baja-style tacos, guacamole and chips, burritos with all the works!

$19  |  13% ABV

Truthteller Winery 2019 Columbia Valley The Miscreant Project ‘White Lie’

This Rhône-style white blend with Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier is smashing value for the price. This pale gold wine is brimming over with stone fruit and floral accents, a creamy texture and a satisfying finish. For a simple and oh-so-satisfying meal, cozy up with a glass and a plate of steaming hot cacio e pepe.

$16  |  12.5% ABV

Bainbridge Vineyards 2018 Puget Sound Madeleine Angevine

At Bainbridge Vineyards, the grapes are grown on Suyematsu Family property using traditional farming methods, and the wines are a true lesson in terroir. This gem delivers plenty of orange blossom, melon and fragrant jasmine, which makes for an aromatic, citrus-driven wine.

$28  |  12% ABV

Airfield Estates 2021 Yakima Valley Sauvignon Blanc

A strong mineral core, concentrated citrus flavors and popping acidity make this one delectable winter sip. The wonderfully fresh wine has a strong saline character that asks to be paired with winter seafood dishes — think hearty clam chowder or mussels-and-shrimp paella.

$17  |  12.7% ABV
