One of the oldest vineyards in the Willamette Valley, Knudsen Vineyards is in the heart of Dundee Hills appellation. The vineyard was established in 1971 by Cal Knudsen and his wife Julia Lee, and by 1975, it became the largest vineyard in the state of Oregon. Today, Knudsen grows acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes across 130 planted acres (228 total), making it for the foundation for many producers, like Argyle, where Knudsen is the primary vineyard source for the award-winning sparkling wines.
Pouring the 2013 Pinot Noir into your glass, you’ll see a beautiful red color in this new release. Deep cherry, dark berries and broken earth awakes the senses as it rises into your nose as you let the wine open up. The first sip resonates with the tart cherry notes and berry flavor, ranging from cranberry to dusted currants. This Pinot has a freshness that is dry with a medium-bodied finish, acting as an optimal aid to fully transition from summer to fall.
