Hailing from St. Helens, Oregon (not to be confused with Mount St. Helens, Washington), is Ye Ol’ Grog Distillery, a small-batch operation run by three engineers and a sales guy who built their own makeshift distilling equipment based on old Kentucky moonshiners. With labels adorned with scantily clad, busty women, Ye Ol’ Grog is mostly known for its two flavored liqueurs: Good Morning Glory Grog and Dutch Harbor Breeze Grog. However, the distillery also produces its Dog Watch Vodka, which is not your average vodka. It has a woody, creamy, nearly sweet nose to it. The texture is velvety smooth, going down clean with only a mild burn in the aftertaste. Use to make a mean martini, Moscow mule or just chilled and served neat.
