Industry-led Programming Spotlights Growers, Makers, and Regions Throughout August
SEATTLE (August 3, 2026) — WAugust is back as Washington’s month-long celebration of wine, place, and community. Built for storytellers and designed for broad participation, WAugust brings curious newcomers and longtime lovers together to taste, travel, and celebrate the stories of Washington wine.
Now in its fifth year, WAugust offers a platform for wineries, tasting rooms, restaurants, retailers, and local communities to showcase the diversity and creativity of Washington wine. Whether it’s backyard barbecues, winery lawn parties, tasting room specials, or restaurant pairings, WAugust is your call to sip boldly and celebrate loudly all month long.
What began as Washington Wine Month has become a statewide moment. August is filled with exclusive tastings, regional experiences, and partner promotions from wineries, tasting rooms, restaurants, and retailers to spotlight the reach and spirit of Washington wine.
Washington wine is a significant driver of local economy and employment. Not only do 80% of Washington wines score 90+ points proving quality at every price point, but the industry supports the state’s economy in important ways. By the numbers, the Washington wine industry:
- Contributes $10.56 Billion in economic impact to the local economy
- Provides 51,400 jobs supporting local families and communities
Generates over $1 Billion in annual state and local tax revenue

“This August offers an opportunity to experience Washington wine whether you’re discovering a new winery, sharing a bottle with friends, or bringing Washington wine along on your next adventure, “said Kristina Kelley, Executive Director or the Washington State Wine Commission. “By purchasing wine at your local retail shop, in your favorite tasting room, or ordering at a restaurant you’re helping sustain an industry that supports farms, jobs, and local economics across the state. Let’s make this WAugust the most welcoming and creative one yet.”
This month you’ll see WAugust in full force across the state. In your favorite tasting rooms, retail stores, in social feeds, and at the heart of wine country gatherings, partners are turning up the volume with bold branding, in-store activations, and custom toolkits to celebrate.
