Make modern luxury travel your new normal with Versante Hotel in Richmond, British Columbia

Richmond, British Columbia’s New Luxury Hotel Experience

Brand new and built to impress with every detail considered from the bottom to the top, if you find yourself in Richmond, British Columbia, for business or pleasure, you must check out the brand new Versante Hotel. Touted as the only luxury boutique hotel in Richmond, Versante is fresh, ultra-modern and oh-so playful with bright pops of color, fabulous dining experiences and a vibrant art collection. Below are just some of the ways Versante is bringing the future of luxury travel to Richmond, British Columbia.

Welcome to the Future

Whether you are a young, tech-savvy entrepreneur or lean toward more traditional hotel experiences, you will appreciate all the modern conveniences at Versante. Their contactless check-in options include state-of-the-art room entry and in-room lighting and tinting controls that let you set the mood to your specific needs at any moment.

Location, Location, Location

Those traveling to Vancouver or elsewhere in British Columbia will appreciate Versante’s proximity to the Vancouver International Airport. With complimentary airport transfers by car to and from the transit stations, Versante offers a convenient commute location to downtown Vancouver while staying close to the Richmond area.

For those who love a bit of vibrance and excitement-filled nights, Versante is also a stone’s throw away from the Richmond Night Market. Spend hours wandering the largest night market in North America with a wide variety of East Asian street food cuisine, carnival games, live entertainment and so much more.

Pops of Color and Luxurious Details

One of the things you will notice right away is that Versante is not afraid of color. The open white spaces in the lobby and public areas help draw your eyes to a beautiful collection of modern art that embraces color, texture and the region, with many pieces created by local artists.

Every room is filled with lush features, separated into five artistic design concepts and themes to match your personality, as well as loads of Instagrammable accessories like shimmering gold poodle lamps and whimsical nautical murals. The bathrooms feature oversized rainforest showers and heated floors, with many rooms including freestanding soaker tubs next to window views. Backlit mirrors, brass accents, lion’s head brass knockers and mood lighting emitted from Chinese night market-inspired red lanterns fill the shared spaces to keep you stimulated as you wander the halls.

Look Good. Feel Fabulous.

There is a theme of modern tech advances here at Versante, and its 24-hour fitness center is no exception. For those needing a little more of a relaxed approach to wellness, their saltwater lap pool and jacuzzi on the sixth-floor rooftop terrace are just the ticket. With Peloton bikes and MIRROR workout technology, your heart will be pumping and your mind will be ready for the day or night.

Pamper Your Taste Buds: Cask Whisky Vault

Of course, the rooms and luxe amenities at Versante are enough to have you feeling pampered and refreshed, but as many of you know, I am all about the cocktails. If Versante Hotel symbolizes these vibrant summer days, Cask Whisky Vault is the best of these summer nights. With the gentle sounds of a guitar floating over you, the ice shaking and stirring of cocktails take rhythm within the elegant Cask Whisky dining experience.

Cask Whisky Vault is a dreamy space next door to Versante in its Club Versante property. With dark woods, rich leather and fine details, the space is open yet intimate at the same time. You will feel cocooned and comfortable sitting at the bar or enjoying one of their private rooms. The Vault is not shy about showing off its massive collection of whiskey, either, and the bar staff is well equipped to cater to seasoned whiskey vets and newbies.

Start the night off right with the Cask Old Fashioned with your choice of bourbon, an incredible 13-spice demerara syrup and orange bitters; or the Cask Sour with rye, Drambuie, Calamansi, Szechuan peppercorn, egg white and a flutter of dried pepper fronds that resemble bright saffron. For something lighter, the non-alcoholic Strawberry Fields with strawberry, rose tea, lemon and sparkling water makes an ideal palate cleanser for what’s to come.

Cask is, after all, a whiskey bar, so don’t hesitate to indulge in a whiskey flight. Try something new or roll with an old favorite. Either way, you can’t go wrong with their endless selection of unique and rare whiskies.

Head Chef William Lew mesmerizes with an array of Japanese-inspired gourmet in Izakaya style. Nothing on the menu disappoints! Each plate is beautifully orchestrated and a joy to eat. The Crispy Truffle Potato “Okonomiyaki,” with furikake cabbage and bonito flakes, is a perfect balance of creamy and crispy and the melt-in-your-mouth Bison Bone Marrow with maple glaze, pickled bamboo shoot and red miso furikake milk bun is a rich indulgence of flavor.

Try the Wagyu Beef Skewer from the Robata with black pepper kabayaki, shishito relish, and crispy garlic, or keep the whiskey theme going with the Whiskey Smoked Sablefish in a whiskey miso marinade with baby bok choy and chili. The Beef Short Rib will stop you in your tracks with black garlic teriyaki and koji butter sauce.

Finish off the meal with their Whiskey Chocolate Cake with 70% Arriba chocolate, vanilla whiskey, caramel, cocoa crumble and vanilla bean ice cream. Yum! View the full Cask food menu here.

Reservations are available for hotel guests and Club Versante members. Walk-in guests are also welcome. Cask is open Wednesday through Sunday from 6 p.m. to close. There’s also live entertainment Thursday through Sunday. For more information, follow Cask on Instagram and visit clubversante.com.

2020 Civita Institute Fellow and senior writer for Sip Magazine and Cidercraft Magazine. By day, I’m a designer, writer, and photographer. By night I’m a cocktail creator and culinary geek. I have worked in the food industry for many of my working years. From dishwasher to head bartender, server, line cook, and bar manager. I served healthy snacks to celebrities in the movie industry and flipped burgers in a tiny and sweltering 4-seater dive. I have learned all the right and wrong ways to make a good cup of coffee and how to mix drinks by a New Jersey crooner with 70’s flare. I’m not picky. I love a greasy spoon joint just as much as a posh 5-star restaurant.
