Top 5 Dog Friendly Northwest Drinking Destinations

by | Mar 21, 2024

The Northwest features countless destinations for trying new libations or revisiting old favorites. But when there’s another member of the family in tow — your dog — planning a trip can become a bit tricker. Due to state and county regulations, there are some tasting rooms and taprooms that aren’t able to welcome dogs. However, there are still plenty of other spots to enjoy when Fido is along for the trip. These top picks go beyond simply allowing dogs. Instead, they welcome them with open arms so you can plan a trip with less stress.

BEND, OREGON

Bend is known for its booming beer scene, but it’s also known for countless opportunities for outdoor access, often with your dog along for the fun! Head out for a hike, bike ride or a walk in the park and then grab a spot at Sunriver Brewing Company’s Galveston Pub, Boss Rambler Beer Club or Boneyard Beer. Hoping for something other than beer? Sit on the patio at Bledsoe Family Winery or head out to Bend Cider Co. to try its botanical Mandarin Juniper cider while sitting with your dog either inside or out in the backyard.

Barbarian Brewing

BOISE, IDAHO

Head to Idaho’s capital for plenty of sunshine and great sips. Walk with your dog along the Boise River Greenbelt and pop into dog-friendly spots such as Payette Brewing with an 11,000-square-foot shaded beer garden. Farther down the Greenbelt is Barbarian Brewing and their always-adventurous kettle sours, where dogs are welcome indoors and out. A few steps away, sip wine right next to the river on the patio at Telaya Wine Co., or find a seat inside or outside at the nearby Split Rail WInery.

HOOD RIVER, OREGON

On the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge, Hood River is home to phenomenal beverage producers, both in the city limits and along the agricultural Fruit Loop. Sip cider and grab a delicious lunch at The Gorge White House, try a glass of Blue Chip Pinot Noir at Wy’East Vineyards or head to Grateful Vineyard for wine, beer and cider with a side of pizza and plenty of space to roam around. On Hood River’s waterfront, sit outside on the expansive deck at Ferment Brewing Company or have a cocktail and a snack at Camp 1805 Distillery.

Sokol Blosser Winery

WILLAMETTE VALLEY OREGON

Ready for a visit to wine country? While it’s sometimes tricky to find wine tasting experiences that are dog friendly, the Willamette Valley offers more than 100 wineries ready to welcome your pet. Soak in stunning vineyard views from the patio at Adelsheim Vineyard and cozy up near the fire at Black Dog Vineyard. Head to Sokol Blosser Winery for sweeping views from the deck or grab a glass of bubbles outside at Argyle Winery.

Bron Yr Aur Brewing Co.

YAKIMA VALLEY, WASHINGTON

The Yakima Valley’s agricultural bounty makes it ideal for producing and serving beer, wine, cider and spirits. With large outdoor spaces and room to roam, breweries such as Bale Breaker Brewing Company, Single HIll Brewing, Bron Yr Aur Brewing Co. and Cowiche Creek Brewing Company are ideal for grabbing a beer and a bite with your dog, whether from an innovative food truck or Bron Yr Aur’s or Cowiche’s on-site kitchens. Area wineries including Owen Roe, Sheridan VIneyard and Two Mountain Winery welcome your furry friends as well.
