The fresh, BBQ-ready blend of Grenache, Viognier, and Baga captures the winery’s playful approach to climate adaptation and lower-impact packaging
Walla Walla, WA. [June 9, 2026] – The Walls Vineyards is proud to announce the release of their newest wine: 2025 In the City, a chillable red blend. This intellectual summer sipper was made with rooftop hangs, park picnics, and backyard BBQs in mind.
An intentional blend of Grenache, Viognier, and Baga, In the City brings together Southern Rhône grapes and climate-resilient Portuguese varieties grown in Walla Walla, reflecting The Walls’ dedication to wines with texture, color, and depth. The result is a chilled red for wine nerds: bright, expressive, and lip-smacking with soft, textural tannin and notes of strawberry lemonade, juicy plum, and a touch of minerality.
The wine also reflects The Walls’ broader sustainability-minded approach. In addition to the standard 750ml bottle, In the City is available in a 1.5L pouched “bagnum,” holding the equivalent of two bottles. It’s easily transportable, and also creates 80% less carbon output than the production and transportation of glass bottles.
The Walls has been experimenting with Portuguese varieties as part of its long-term approach to climate resilience in Washington wine. Four years ago, the team planted three acres of Portuguese grapes at its estate vineyard in the French Creek AVA, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Baga. These varieties are still relatively rare in Washington, but The Walls sees them as an important part of the region’s future: heat-adapted, expressive, and capable of making wines with freshness, structure, and personality.
Fun fact: The Walls petitioned the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to add Baga to its approved list of grape varieties, making this the first approved U.S. Baga!
The 2025 In the City is available now for $32 per 750ml bottle, and $58 per 1.5L bagnum. They are available to purchase online, and at The Walls winery in Walla Walla.
