Portland Beer Week: June 6th-16th

by | May 29, 2013

A Brewer’s Week of Goodness

In case the other 354 days of Portland’s year aren’t sudsy enough for you, here’s cause for celebration: Portland Beer Week returns for a third go ‘round starting next Thursday, June 6. Of course, Portland can’t fit all its good beer into a proper week any better than Seattle could, so this “brewer’s week” will consist of eleven days of ale-infused revelry and general hoppiness. Featuring everything from vegan strip clubs to “Beer Bowl” blind tastings, there won’t be a sober moment: take a gander at just a few of the events happening around town.

Beer Week Kickoff Party

Thursday, June 6

The Lucky Lab gathering (NW Quimby) will feature a wide preview of various breweries to participate in the week-plus festivus, plus live music and original beer ice cream flavors from the one and only Salt & Straw.

Portland Beer Games

Thursday, June 6

Citius, altius, drunkius? Leave it to Portland to host the Beer-lympics. Teams of enthusiasts compete in beer-themed “bar games” while bikers ride the Lumberyard ramps nearby.

Portland Fruit Beer Festival

Saturday, June 8 — Sunday, June 9

7th Street shuts down for the understandably well-loved Fruit Beer Fest, hosted by Burnside Brewing Co. This year keep your eyes peeled for kiwi ale, blood orange witbier, raspberry balsamic porter, and the possibility of a rainbow-toned Skittle infusion.

Beers Made By Walking Hike

Wednesday, June 12

Several months ago, the celebrated brewers of Breakside, Coalition, Gigantic and Hopworks walked Forest Park in search of plants to brew a portrait of nature in Portland. Walk the same route with them as they explain their inspirations and point out the florae they used, then attend the Beers Made By Walking tapping party the next day.

Let’s not forget the progressive dinners, beer seminars, professional pairings and release parties overtaking breweries city-wide. Check out the calendar for details on these and the full list of PDX Beer Week events.

Thursday, June 6 — Sunday, June 16 || Times, locations and costs vary.
