Whidbey Island, WA
Bright lights and big cities have their limits — the glare, noise and hustle can leave you requesting a much-needed respite away from it all. Luckily for Seattleites and those undaunted by a few hours on the road, the charming and libation-soaked Whidbey Island awaits, just a short drive and boat ride away from the Emerald City.

Mississippi Avenue, Portland
If there’s one area that captures the bohemian spirit and creative spark that defines Portland, it’s the Historic Mississippi District in the Boise neighborhood of North Portland. Like the neighborhood, the drinking and dining scene here has a maverick streak and a sense of joie de vivre. You’ll find flavors from around the world, but with a taste that’s pure Portland.

Boise, Idaho
Boise is growing its downtown with the 8th Street pedestrian zone of sidewalk cafes and restaurants as the hub. The area also contains the Basque Block, which gives visitors a glimpse at Basque heritage though bars, restaurants and a cultural center. There are plenty of options to quench and satiate in this budding mid-size Northwest city.

Georgetown, Seattle
Before the Seattle neighborhood of Georgetown was much else, it was a brewing community and that spirit lives on today. Aptly named Airport Way, the main drag runs below a flight path at ends at nearby Boeing Field, dotted with bars, restaurants and many a’brewery to take in the rich history of the thriving hub.

Victoria, BC
From the bottom tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia’s capital city has become a mecca for craft beer, artisan coffee and handmade cocktails, touting a cadre of small independent eateries with a league of hungry locals to support it.

Spokane, WA
The greater Inland Northwest tallies 41 breweries that mark up the map of its ale trail, many with establishment dates back a decade ago, while the state’s first distillery resides on the fringe of Gonzaga University’s campus. Spokane and its sprawling borders are playing host to a growing drinks scene that can’t and won’t stop.
