Northwest Wine Harvest: Celebrating the Season from Oregon to Canada

The celebration of a generous summer, harvest season in the Northwest is a time for all things wine. From Oregon to British Columbia, the Northwest is rich in its viticultural offerings, and early autumn is the perfect time to sample new releases, participate in ceremonious grape stomps, or just revel in the flavors of the season.

Oregon is celebrating with an exciting round-up of crush-inspired events during their homage to harvest, including the Oregon Wine Social Harvest Celebration and a month long wine tasting and art gallery at the Columbia Center for the Arts.

Taste from an assortment of exquisite wines from the state’s top wineries during an evening of food and drink on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Oregon Wine Social Harvest Celebration. Mingle with the winemakers as you sample from wines and appetizers provided by Portland’s 23 Hoyt. Tickets are available for $30 and include three wine tastings paired with specially prepared menu items.

Or, get in touch with your creative side while perusing wine inspired art every Friday in October during The Crush: A Celebration of Columbia Gorge Wines and Fine Arts. Enjoy a variety of wines and complimentary appetizers as you rub elbows with Oregon based artists and winemakers at this exhibition of wine inspired art.

Washington wine country also has with a bundle of events certain to entertain and satisfy any wine aficionado or novice. Come explore the Yakima Valley and celebrate a wine harvest tradition with a two-day nod to reds and whites during Catch the Crush Oct. 12-13. Featuring wines from beloved local wineries including Chinook Wines, Hightower Cellars, Silver Lake Winery and many more, Catch the Crush offers everything from grape stomps and tours to live music and tastings. Continue traveling north to British Columbia and celebrate a 10-day wine celebration during the Fall Okanagan Wine Festival. More than 165 events make this massive display of wine, food, art and education the largest wine festival in the Okanagan region.
