Holiday Gift Guide 2015 Part Two: Gifts Worth the Splurge

by | Dec 11, 2015

Last week you got six suggestions for killer Christmas gifts under $40. For the hardcore tailgater, there was the perfect Bloody Mary gift set, for the health- and socially-conscious there was Love Bottle, for the adventurous home bartender there were one-of-a-kind drinking vinegars, and for everyone else there was more still. That’s not to mention all the great coffee subscriptions you can give this year. Still, you probably have a few people on your list that you’d like to splurge on a bit more, (although if you’re worried about price you could always find some digital coupons to make it cheaper!) That’s where this week’s gift guide comes in. Check out eight gifts worth the spend below, and check off the few names you have left on your list. Happy shopping!

Addition Holiday Spice Gift Set || This ingenious four-bottle set from Addition captures the flavors of the holidays as if by magic. Born of a desire to bring spicy and savory flavors to drinks, Addition’s compact dropper bottles always contain unique tinctures—in this case, you’ll find cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and allspice. After much experimentation, we can confidently say that any and all of the festive four make divine additions to any mulled wine or holiday punch. || $74

The Drinking Jacket || A fully funded Kickstarter campaign made TV star and prodigious drinker Zane Lamprey’s drinking jacket idea a reality, proving Lamprey’s point: this jacket has all the features you never knew you needed until they were suggested. The warm, well-made zip-up hoodie ties together everything from a koozie pocket to non-slip drinking mitt sleeves to hidden flask compartments to a bottle-opener zipper pull, and makes an unforgettably perfect gift for anyone who tailgates or simply loves to drink. || $85

Callie’s Coffee Gourmet Sampler || Callie’s Coffee was founded when then-seven-year-old Callie Lentz wanted to do something for her friend Ben Towne, who was suffering from an incurable form of neuroblastoma. Give the feel-good, taste-good gift that is the Callie’s Gourmet Sampler (featuring Callie’s House Blend, hot chocolate mix, chocolate truffles, and salted caramels), of which 10 percent of sales go toward pediatric cancer research. || $41

McMenamin’s Whiskey Trio Gift Pack || It’s exactly what any true whiskey lover wants for Christmas: whiskey, whiskey and more whiskey. This spirituous sampler from McMenamin’s distilleries features a 20 milliliter glass flask apiece of Billy Whiskey, Monkey Puzzle and Hogshead Whiskey, plus cocktail recipes and a limited-edition shot glass. || $50

Miir Growler || Seattle-based Miir exemplifies a truly unique business model—with every purchase, not only do proceeds go toward supplying clean water and transportation in developing countries, you’ll get a unique Track Your Impact code, which lets you check back down the road to see exactly where your purchase made a difference. Miir’s gorgeous 64-ounce vacuum-insulated growlers are just one example of a great Miir product that gives back. || $55

Meriwether of Montana Waxed Canvas Wine Tote || Subtle yet classy, this United States-made wine tote is crafted from waxed canvas and accented with two sturdy leather handles, plus a pair of side pockets perfect for holding corkscrews, stoppers or small snacks. || $70

Vancouver Brewery Tours Beer Lovers’ Holiday Gift Pack || For those who’d rather have experiences than items, this brew-fueled adventure makes the perfect gift. The package includes two tickets on VBT’s weekly tour, plus a growler of choice, filled with a beer of choice, and paired with two VBT Belgian beer glasses. || $169

Chefodex Experiences || We love gifting cooking classes, but a lot of great ones around Seattle fill up as fast as they’re released. Luckily, Chefodex is freshly launched, and as such, its one-of-a-kind Experiences are only just beginning to fill up. Choose between the likes of Oyster Shucking & Champagne, Sukiyaki, Coq au Vin and Empanadas with some of the Emerald City’s top chefs. The $99 price tag covers each class’s food, drinks and gratuity. || $99
