Hammerhead Coffee Roasters Velvet Elvis

by | Jan 26, 2015

Mary Burwell and Scott Hartwich have been in the coffee biz for going on 26 years now, doing everything from roasting beans to opening an espresso cart in Portland to working at some mermaid-logoed chain you may have heard of. Today, they’ve nestled themselves into quiet little Bellingham, Washington and opened Hammerhead Coffee Roasters. The roaster currently offers 16 coffee varieties and blends, among which is their Velvet Elvis blend. This Vienna Roast is a blend of South American and Island coffees that’s full-bodied with very earthy, woody and foresty with some smokey and toasty qualities stemming from the darker-than-average roast. This is an uncomplicated cup of joe, but in a world with foam and sprinkles and chocolate syrups and five kinds of milk, sometimes a simple, quality blend is exactly what the doctor ordered.
