“Gigantic Brewing Company is an independent, artisanal brewery located in the Southeast quadrant of the Peoples Republic of Portland.” Other than their threat to “taste awesome,” that pretty much sums up the brewers Ben Love (Pelican, Hopworks) and Van Havig (Minnesota Brewing Company in St. Paul, MN and Rock Bottom Breweries in three different locations) and their pet project dedicated to Northwest IPA. The Whole In The Head Imperial IPA, unlike the popular expression, is something you at least need to try. Bright citrus and sweet pine hops hit your head hard with biscuit, caramel and orange rounding out what you’re smelling. The mouthfeel is big, bold and boisterous, finishing bittersweet and round.
