El Gaucho’s 2013 Hootenanny

by | Jul 31, 2013

Ever been to a hootenanny? You know—an informal party with a group performing folk music and, if you’re lucky, dancing ensues. Although this definition dates back as far as the 1920s, it has endured the test of time and been rebranded to suit the nature of today. To best describe the modern meaning of the word, look no further than the lively good time at AQUA by El Gaucho’s Hootenanny 2013.

Arriving for another year to Seattle’s AQUA by El Gaucho is the summer celebration of wine, spirits, beer, food and music that is this restaurant’s unbridled afternoon Hootenanny. On Aug. 10, spend the warmer part of your Saturday at the tip of the city’s Pier 70 while enjoying choices from more than 20 West Coast wines, local brews and spirits, appetizers by AQUA, fresh oysters from Taylor Shellfish at Melrose Market, and jiving music provided by a guest DJ.

The party’s wine sips will be provided by: Andrew Hill Winery, Cakebread Cellars, Col Solare Winery and Mark Ryan Winery. Those in the mood for a Seattle spirit or brew will have a choice from Big Gin, Glass Vodka, Woodinville Whiskey Company, Hales Ales, and Mac and Jack’s Brewing Company.

The restaurant’s expansive deck will provide the perfect setting for this afternoon party, with charming views of Elliot Bay and the Space Needle. Plus, I hear they make a mojito refreshing enough to defend yourself against the hot sun.

To join in the extravaganza, call the restaurant to make your reservations.

Saturday, Aug. 10 || 3: 30 –5:30 pm || 2801 Alaskan Way, Pier 70 || Seattle || Tickets: $95 [call to make reservations at (206) 956-9171]
