Drifters: Sparkling Hill Resort

by | Oct 28, 2015

As a traditional European-style spa, Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon, British Columbia offers a rejuvenating wellness experience where love-struck honeymooners, stressed-out CEOs and worn-out retirees alike can slip into something a little more comfortable and enjoy a revitalizing experience unlike any other. A glittering beacon infused with Swarovski crystals, this Vernon retreat stands out among its natural Okanagan Valley surroundings.

Situated atop a hill overlooking Lake Okanagan in one of British Columbia’s vibrant viticultural regions, Sparkling Hill boasts 149 rooms, an over-the-top wellness spa and top-notch dining amidst the more than 3.5 million Swarovski crystals that are integrated throughout the resort’s stunning design—the vision of Swarovski’s chief crystal architect, Andreas Altmayer.

In addition to the resort’s breathtaking architecture and natural setting, it is the KurSpa that makes the resort so visit-worthy. The 40,000-square-foot spa features seven steam rooms and saunas, an indoor saltwater pool, outdoor infinity pool, hot tub, and kneipp waterway (a European-style water-stepping technique designed to stimulate the nervous and lymphatic systems). For guests looking to restart their health, KurSpa’s on-site clinic offers everything from detox programs and nutritional counseling to naturopathic medicine and more.

In the evening, guests change out of their robes into casual attire for dinner in PeakFine, the resort’s seasonally inspired restaurant. Chef Marco Herbergs infuses the menu with market-fresh fare that pairs well alongside any one of the Okanagan Valley wines available on the menu.

Located in the “Napa of the North,” Sparkling Hill Resort is a hop, skip and a jump away from several world-class wineries. After a day indulging in Sparkling Hill’s many crystal comforts, guests can venture out to nearby wineries for a sip of something red, white or rosé before heading back to this serene spa escape.
