Cocktails, Mr. Bond.

by | Nov 6, 2015

Normally we bring you a single spirit, but for today’s Daily Sip we wanted to do something in celebration of the release of the latest James Bond film, Spectre. Below are three Bond-themed cocktails created by bartenders at three Kimpton properties across the Northwest, featuring three exceptional Northwest spirits. Enjoy!

Goldfinger || Bacchus Bar, Portland || Bartender Andrew Call
This twist on a Martini puts whiskey in the limelight—with lime juice to accent the bright golden color, and sweet vermouth for richness. The flaming orange peel and golden color harken back to Sean Connery’s eponymous nemesis.

2 ounces Stein Distillery straight rye whiskey
¾ ounce Antica Carpano Vermouth
¾ ounce Cointreau
½ ounce lime juice

Combine in beaker, add ice and stir. Strain into coupe glass and garnish with a flamed orange peel.

The Spectre || Tulio, Seattle || Bar Manager Greg Zacher
A modern spin on a cocktail called the 007 (or the James Bond) with vodka, gin, and limoncello, this Seattle rendition keeps it to gin and mixes with citrusy, grappa-based liqueur, Aqua De Cedro, in the place of limoncello.

2 ounces OOLA Distillery gin
½ ounce Aqua De Cedro
¼ ounce lemon juice

Shaken and served up with a lemon twist

Amore Roma || Bookstore Bar & Café, Seattle || Executive Chef Caprial Pence
With the new 007 film partially set in Rome, this bar-chef takes Italian’s love of artichokes and puts it in a cocktail, with plenty of botanical-fragrant Seattle gin to fill out the glass.

3 ounces Sun Liquor Hedgetrimmer gin
½ ounc Cynar
Quarter of an orange, squeezed
Orange zest garnish

Shaken with ice, strained and served up with a twist of orange.
