Classic Wines Auction Announces Spring Winemaker Dinner Series

In late February and early March, Portland-based nonprofit to host 31 dinners in partnership with notable chefs and wineries

PORTLAND, Ore (Dec. 7, 2016) – Classic Wines Auction, recognized as one of the top ten charity wine auctions in the country by Wine Spectator, today announced its Spring Winemaker Dinner series, benefiting local charities working to help children and families in need.

Each winemaker dinner offers guests a one-of-a-kind, multi-course menu with delightfully curated wine pairings. There are 31 total dinners in the series with 39 wineries from Oregon, Washington, California, France, Italy and Germany. Featuring restaurants ranging from Headwaters and Tusk to Irving Street Kitchen and The Woodsman Tavern, and wineries including J.K. Carriere, Beaux Freres, Ken Wright, Bethel Heights and Domaine Serene, the Portland-based nonprofit will host these dinners over six days: Feb. 21 through 23 and 28; March 1 through 2.

Proceeds raised from the winemaker dinners support five local nonprofits, including: Metropolitan Family Service (MFS), New Avenues for Youth, Friends of the Children – Portland, YWCA Clark County and Unity Center for Behavioral Health. Classic Wines Auction expects to raise $75,000 for its partners from its Spring Winemaker Dinner series, and a total of approximately $3 million in 2017.

All dinners start at 6:30 p.m., and prices range from $100 to $150. Dates and winery partners include:

Wednesday, Feb. 22

  • Nedd Ludd at Elder Hall with Brooks Winery (sold out)

  • Nel Centro with Matello Wines & Goodfellow Family Cellars

  • Tournant featuring chefs Mona Johnson and Jaret Foster with Elk Cove Vineyards and J. Bookwalter Winery

Thursday, Feb. 23

Tickets for the Spring Winemaker Dinner series can be purchased online at winemakerdinnerspdx.com or by calling 503.972.0194. A raffle will accompany the dinner series; with only 600 tickets available at $50 each, prizes include multiple $100 gift certificates to participating restaurants. Raffle tickets can be purchased online or at each individual event.
