Cathedral Ridge Winery 2011 Halbtrocken

by | Sep 24, 2014

Cathedral Ridge Winery proudly grows a vast variety of high quality grapes across the unique soils and growing environments present in the Colombia River Gorge. A portion of their grapes in the Columbia Valley are near bodies of water that provide extra-reflected sunlight, similar to the growing environment in Germany along the Rhine River. The extra sunlight and heat provided by the water’s reflection results in the best ripening and most flavorful grapes.

The Cathedral Ridge Halbtrocken is a blend of Riesling, grown in the Rhine-like sphere, and a secret variety of red. This blush offers the opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds—the tropical nose and fresh, fruit forward flavor boast of wild cherries and strawberries while the subtle tannins and earthier flavors of the red cut the sweetness. Flavorful and unique without being overwhelming, this wine can stand alone as the perfect nightcap or pairs well with a sweet yet savory meal—Thanksgiving is hiding around the corner so make a mental note to serve this Halbtrocken alongside the turkey and cranberry sauce.
