Find great food at these Hood River breweries.

Whether you’re just passing through for lunch or making Hood River, Ore., your destination for the weekend, this town has it all. Outdoor adventures are plentiful, along with options for shopping or exploring galleries downtown. But one of the even more alluring qualities of this Columbia River Gorge hamlet? All of the excellent breweries that call it home.

Often, heading into a brewery’s taproom means special on-tap options are available that you can’t find in bottles or cans. But when you’re heading to Hood River to grab a beer, there’s another bonus at many local pubs. You’ll find that breweries in the area are putting just as much thought and care into their food menus, as well.

Ferment Brewing

Ferment Brewing Company

Located on the Columbia River waterfront, Ferment came on the scene in 2018. The beer menu is huge, with options for every taste including a wide variety of ales and lagers, along with other specialty brews. Plenty of other drink options such as housemade kombucha, hot cocktails, cider and wine are available too. The atmosphere, with impeccable design inside and cozy outdoor seating by the firepit, is sure to draw you in. But what takes Ferment to the next level? It’s all about the food. The creative food menu — including house ferments, pickled veggies, organic greens and great vegan and vegetarian options — is second to none.
