Alesong Brewing & Blending is now offering its own Pilsner and IPA, while continuing its barrel-aged beer program that has been its specialization for 10 years.
“In our 10th anniversary year, we are stoked to offer more Alesong in more ways,” says Brian Coombs, Alesong cofounder and director of operations. “For many years, we’ve served guest non-barrel-aged beers on tap at our tasting room to provide a variety of offerings for all visitors,” continues Coombs. “We started piloting our own lager series last summer. It’s been well received, so we scaled up to make it available continuously on draft and in cans as 12-ounce 6-packs, both at our tasting room and at other Oregon watering holes and bottle shops.”
“This diversification meets consumer demand and recognizes that there’s a time and a place for every type of beer,” says Matt Van Wyk, Alesong co-founder and global sales director. “Sometimes, the moment calls for a Pilsner or an IPA, like when floating the river or at a Ducks (or Beavs!) tailgate party.”
“The bottom line is we—like a lot of other people who enjoy Alesong—drink a heck of a lot of IPA and Pilsner when not drinking Rhino Suit and Stonefruit Sonata,” continues Van Wyk. “As an extension of our brand, we hope that these cans attract new customers who may not have heard of us previously, and that they come check out everything we have to offer.”
“Making unique, barrel-aged beer for our Blender’s Circle is still at the heart of what we do—and what we love,” says Coombs. “We remain focused on local, high-quality ingredients and producing the best beer possible, both in our barrelaging program and beyond.”

About Alesong IPA
This is a straight-forward, balanced IPA that uses northwest-grown hops (Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic). Coming in at 6.5%, this is a go-to IPA for everyday enjoyment. “If I had to categorize it, it best fits in the classic West Coast IPA circa 2017 category,” says Coombs. “But this is Alesong and we draw outside the [style guide]lines, and we just want to make beer that tastes awesome. It has a touch of body and color that modern West Coast/San Diego style IPAs are lacking that really balance out the bitterness and give the beer some solid body.”
About Alesong Pilsner
“Again, this is Alesong: style guidelines are cages for which our feathers are too bright,” says Coombs. “But if we had to choose, this would be close to a traditional German-style pilsner. We wanted to focus on floral and citrus-forward hops (Saphir, Sterling, and Hersbrucker) and German malt but didn’t want it to be too dry and bitter.” Coming in at 4.9%, this beer is light and complex, and every sip leaves you wanting more. Pairs well with picnics in the sun.

ABOUT ALESONG BREWING AND BLENDING:
Now celebrating its 10-year anniversary and named Brewery of the Year at the 2024 Great American Beer Festival® in its size category, Alesong Brewing and Blending is an artisan brewery, winery, and cidery based in the heart of Southern Willamette Valley wine country outside Eugene, Oregon. With the majority of production spending time in oak, Alesong crafts unique and small-batch blends, producing styles that span the flavor spectrum. As the beer, wine, or cider matures, the team samples and selects barrels individually to create a final blend. Paying homage to old-world Lambic blenders and artisan winemakers, Alesong strives to achieve complex and balanced final blends that are much more interesting and complete than the sum of their parts or any individual barrel by itself.
