The Liberty Distillery Railspur No. 1 White Whiskey

by | Dec 19, 2014

Having begun their journey in early 2010, the team behind The Liberty Distillery was one of the first in Vancouver to jump into the craft distilling pool as BC liquor laws began to loosen their antiquated grip. Unique in its 100 percent BC-sourced barley base spirit, the Granville Island operation’s Railspur No. 1 White Whiskey is triple-distilled to produce a smooth spirit aimed directly at mixability. In this case, the barley imparts a richness manifested in honey, bread and caramel notes, though the moonshine is less sweet than most of its corn-based counterparts. At 85 percent ABV, the whiskey closes with a bit of heat, but is metered by a mellow butteriness on the finish in spite of the absence of a barrel.
