When visiting Whistler, British Columbia, it’s nice to stay close to the action on the Village Stroll, the main pedestrian-only corridor through the heart of the Whistler Village where you’ll find shops, galleries, restaurants and bars galore. Unless you’re swooshing down the mountain, riding a bike, or knocking a ball around a golf course, the village is where you want to be. However, the problem with actually staying in the village is the noise, especially when the inevitable sounds of nightlife interfere with your sleep and relaxation. The best course of action is to stay very near, but not actually in, the village.
Located just a few steps away from everything the Village Stroll offers, Summit Lodge Hotel provides all the features a drifter could want. Finely appointed rooms, swimming pool and spa, sauna, complimentary Wi-Fi, and the other creature comforts you expect from a luxury hotel are available at the Summit. All the while, the hotel does not take itself too seriously, reminding you that when in Whistler you should focus on fun and relaxation. For example, when you arrive, an adorable sock monster waits for you on the bed; he’ll be your buddy throughout the stay and will keep an eye on the room when you’re out enjoying the surrounding environs.
Each room has a balcony with a view of the village or the forest and the surrounding mountains. Also, each room has a kitchenette equipped with cookware, dishes, flatware, a cooktop and a microwave oven. This is a particularly nice feature for extended stays when the cost of dining out begins to weigh heavy on the pocketbook. Luxurious robes, a soaker tub, boutique toiletries and a fireplace are standard with all rooms.
If your muscles are sore from too much playtime on the mountain, or if you’re having trouble shaking off the stress of your work-a-day world, pay a visit to the Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa, located just off the hotel’s lobby, which offers a range of spa treatments based on traditional Japanese methods. The hotel offers a number of different packages that include spa options. If you don’t have time or inclination for a spa visit, Summit Lodge Hotel backs up against a wooded park which provides unexpected privacy and serenity at the swimming pool and whirlpool.
Two restaurants flank the lobby—Sachi Suchi and Elements Tapas Parlour, the latter is consistently voted Whistler’s top tapas restaurant by the locals. Just outside the door, dozens of dining choices await you in and around Whistler Village, all within easy strolling distance. For those interested in beer and a casual meal, the Whistler Brewhouse is just a block away serving pizzas and other pub fare along with its house-made beers. In the morning, if the hotel’s state-of-the-art automated barista, located in the lobby, does not suit your needs, Blenz Coffee is located just across the street and Starbucks is one block away.
The location simply cannot be beat and the staff and amenities stand ready to help maximize your relaxation and recreation time. Any season of the year, Summit Lodge Hotel remembers why you came and helps you get the most out of your Whistler experience. All the while, they do it with a smile and remind you to have fun. Heck, they even rent scooters. Nothing is more fun than a scooter.
