We Dig: New Wineries, Wine Bars and Tasting Rooms

by | Apr 22, 2014

The Northwest is an oasis when it comes to producing exquisite wines. But equally as regal as the wines we love to sip on, are the wineries, tasting rooms and wine bars where some of our favorite varietals are poured. As Northwest winemakers continue to create sumptuous reds, whites and rosés, thirsty Northwesterners have more options when it comes to where they can enjoy an afternoon or evening, stemmed glass in hand.

Fort Berens Winery and Tasting Room: The wait is almost over for Lillooet, BC’s first winery. Fort Berens Estate Winery broke ground last fall and is rapidly working toward completion for a summer 2014 grand opening. This young winery, which won Winery of the Year at Whistler’s Cornucopia last fall, is on the rise with not only a distinguished selection of wines, but also there coming-soon 9,500 square foot winery and tasting room facility.

14 Hand Winery and Tasting Room: 14 Hands Winery is no newcomer to Washington Wine Country. In fact, the popular Ste. Michelle Wine Estates owned winery has been on the scene for nearly a decade. Established in 2005, 14 Hands was founded on the premise of preserving the spirit of a time when horses ran free and nature grew wild. Now, nearly 10 years later, this popular Washington winery celebrated their journey with the grand opening of a brand new winery and tasting room on Saturday, April 12, in Prosser, Wash.

Built using reclaimed wood from old barns, the facility’s essence is as impressive and wild as the horses it was inspired by. A clear emulation of the spirit of 14 Hands Winery and Horse Heaven Hills, the 14 Hands Winery and Tasting Room is an experiential escape for your taste buds and your eyes.

Pyrenees Lounge: Oregonians now have another destination for enjoying the distinctly superb wines made by Pyranees Vineyards and Cellars. Earlier this year the acclaimed winery had not one, but two grand openings to celebrate their new wine bar, the Pyrenees Lounge. Located in Eugene, Ore., the quaint and urban lounge features a wide selection of Pyrenees wines, beers from 12 local producers, and several wine cocktails that make the lounge’s menu stand out.

Dimly lit and comfortably furnished, guests enjoy the hum of vinyl spinning on the record player as they sip from sumptuous Pyrenees Vineyards wines.
