As if the first annual Seattle Street Food Festival wasn’t enough of a mouthwateringly enticing event to attend, that’s just lunch. Let’s talk about what’s for dinner following a late-afternoon escapade through the food truck extravaganza, Saturday, Aug. 10.
The One Night Only Project has partnered with the festival to bring guests the Pop-Up Picnic Dinner in Cal Anderson Park. This event inside of an event will feature 12 Seattle chefs each preparing a signature street food-inspired dish you won’t find anywhere else.
To add some extra zing to the dinner, the chefs will compete against each other in three categories: best in show (presentation), most innovative and best signature dish. Guests and celebrity judges will decide each winner. The awarded chefs will then get to donate a portion of the ticket proceeds to a charity of their choosing.
Some of the participating chefs include Mike Easton of Corvo, Jason Stoneburner of Stoneburner and Bastille, Willie Frank of Little Uncle and Brian Clevenger of Tavolàta.
Since early 2012, the One Night Only Project was created by Julien Perry and Melissa Peterman. Their mission: to invite chefs out of the kitchen, retirement or comfort zone, and have them design a signature menu for a single evening event. At these dinners, guests get an exclusive dining experience, while the chefs get the freedom to play with their food skills.
Tickets for the picnic event are sold separately from the Seattle Street Food Festival. Once on the picnic grounds, complimentary sips will be served for your evening’s rare dining experience under the stars.
