Portland, Ore. (May 2, 2023) — Oregon Wine + Food, a new book by Portland authors Danielle Centoni and Kerry Newberry, is released today. The new book pairs recipes from local chefs and restaurants with Oregon wines, plus interviews with winemakers. Published by the Canada-based Figure 1, the book features colorful photography alongside conversations with influential wine professionals and 80 four-season recipes. The book is now available at independent bookstores in Oregon and online

Published during May’s Oregon Wine Month, Oregon Wine + Food brings together winemaker voices from across the state and traces the history of Oregon’s evolution into a top wine destination. The new book includes interviews with 40 winemakers who each collaborated with local chefs on recipes to pair with their wines. Oregon Wine + Food recipes include appetizers and small plates, soups, salads, and sides, meat and vegetarian mains, fish and seafood, and desserts.

Example wineries and recipes include:

  • Brianne Day from Day Wines and a Crispy Potato Salad with Peas and Smoked Mussels from Chef Sara Hauman
  • Nate Wall from Troon Vineyard with a Pastrami Beet Reuben from Chef Carl Krause
  • CJ McCollum from McCollum Heritage 91 and Halibut Tacos with Avocado Dressing from Chef Joy Dario

Authors Danielle Centoni and Kerry Newberry began working on Oregon Wine + Food in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. Centoni, a James Beard award-winning food writer and recipe developer, tested every recipe and adapted them as needed for the home cook. Newberry, a longtime wine and food writer who has contributed to Wine & Spirits, Sunset Magazine, Edible Portland, and others, worked closely with winemakers to share their and the larger Oregon wine story.

The new book includes beautiful landscape, food and portrait photography by Portland-based photographer John Valls, and food styling by Andrea Slonecker.

A book signing event will take place with the authors at Powell’s City of Books on July 26 at 7 pm. For more book signing events, please visit the Oregon Wine + Food book website.
