by | Aug 11, 2021

We see you, parents. You need a well-deserved wine break, and want a family-friendly outing that’s not the zoo or the park. What if you could have your wine and sip it too? Enter family-friendly tasting rooms!

While Oregon has more than a staggering 300 family-friendly wineries to choose from – there are some tasting rooms that go above and beyond in providing an elevated family-friendly experience. Think extended lawn areas to run, juice flights to taste, coloring sheets with crayons, and the cuddliest farm animals to hangout with! Do note that most tasting rooms are located at or in the vicinity of operational vineyards, and children must always be supervised.

Here are ten amazing tasting rooms that have you (and your kids!) covered…

Knudsen Vineyards

Knudsen offers a stunning view of the Valley that will leave everyone awestruck, age no bar! For kids, they offer an exciting and engaging “side by side” juice flight consisting of apple, grape, and orange juice to make a day out in wine country more enjoyable for the whole family! The juice flight includes a personal snack box, activity sheet, and crayons, making for engrossed kids and happy, carefree parents.

Schmidt Family Vineyards

While they do have a beautiful tasting room, their outdoor patio is perfect to spend the afternoon with the family! You can order a wood-fired pizza straight from their outdoor oven, take a nice little stroll around the grounds after. Watching the ducks swim around in their private pond is sure to be a hit with the tiny humans.

Troon Vineyard

At Troon Vineyard in the Rogue Valley, kids can play out in the back, behind the tasting room on their beautiful property.  They also host a lot of great events throughout the year like Easter where they have bounce houses, a balloon man, bubbles, live music and more to keep the whole family enthralled.

Et Fille Wines

At Et Fille, a woman-owned winery, President and winemaker Jessica Mozeico has a box of toys kids can play with. They can sip juice or sparkling water while their parents drink delicious wine. Another fun kid-approved activity? Their sidewalk chalk art box is a smashing hit with children!

Stoller Family Estate

Stoller is an amazing playground for kids and adults alike. They have a huge yard with the tire swing tree where kids can run and play, or play catch with mom or dad. They also have a frisbee golf course too for fully grown kids, a.k.a adults who want to live their best kid life. The food menu includes a kids snack pack comprising items like cheddar cheese curds, crackers, fresh fruit or veggies, almond butter and jam. To drink, kids can choose from Honest Juice boxes plus sparkling water, kombucha, and various flavors of San Pellegrino.

Brooks Winery

Brooks provides outdoor seating in an open space, so little guests with more energy can speak more loudly and have space to stretch their legs. Kids can play outdoor games like cornhole and ladder golf, and feed adorable resident chickens on the property! The tasting room also offers non-alcoholic beverages like lemonade, root beer and sparkling water for younger guests.

Durant Vineyards at Red Ridge Farms

The tasting room and sprawling farm at Durant are very conducive to a family-friendly wine tasting experience. They have a plant nursery, an expansive lawn with views of the Dundee Hills (and Mt. Hood!), a couple of flower gardens and a nature trail around their whole vineyard. The walking trail takes you by the sheep pasture that young visitors will love.

Day Wines & Day Camp

At Day Wines, winemaker Brianne Day, who is a single mom and also the sole owner of the winery, has her 4-year-old son accompany her to the winery every single day. She believes in creating a warm, welcoming environment for families. They have plenty of outdoor patio seating where kids can spread out and play. They also have sodas, popcorn and other kid-friendly fare on the menu.

Abbey Road Farm

At Abbey Road Farm, a working 82-acre farm in the heart of Willamette Valley, families can use the Abbey Road Farm walking map to wander the ground and meet the resident farm animals on the property including alpacas, sheep, donkeys, goats, pigs, chickens and peacocks. The very family-friendly tasting room has indoor and outdoor seating, covered pergolas, and picnic tables on the lawn.
