More Fun Story Telling of the Flamboyant Whiskey-Making Characters from America’s Boozy History
(Seattle, Washington)– Who knew that so many people had pent up interest for the compelling characters, their sometimes, untimely deaths and fun-filled lore about whiskey artisans of days past? Seattle’s Gilly Wagon, producers of the Dead Men of Whiskey podcast that first aired in June of 2020, were elated that their weekly podcast was included in the top 20% of most downloaded podcasts within its first month of release. The light-hearted podcast returns for its second season on most major podcast platforms and on www.deadmenofwhiskey.com on January 20, 2021. Listen to the trailer at deadmenofwhiskey.com.
The podcast is produced by Amy Faulkner of Gilly Wagon, the creator of Seattle Cocktail Week and Seattle Cocktail Club. Amy has heard great stories about the people who made America’s favorite whiskeys. Whether from career bartenders or brand ambassadors, family fables or the next bar stool over, these are the tall tales that keep the legends alive. Her co-host is Christian Detres, New York City-based producer and director. His love of film and music drew him to music video production and by way of this fascination, into feature films and stage productions. His recent credits include producing a Greek opera at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Julian Rosefeldt’s upcoming “Euphoria” feature/art installation at the Park Avenue Armory, co-directing Rosario Dawson’s segment of Tim Curry’s VOTE BLUE re-enactment of “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and more. Christian also loves whiskey. A lot.
Each “Whiskey Wednesday” episode focuses on a specific distiller who contributed to the overarching rainbow of whiskey history (and whose products are still in production today). Live Episodes follow-up with brand experts from whiskey companies and special guests to answer listener questions, add more colorful detail and generally shoot the breeze about booze.
“Our first season we wanted to create a podcast that delved into the amazing people behind the many well-known names in whiskey that most people know nothing about,” says Faulkner. Season 2 will allow listeners to geek out further, gather some additional whiskey education and while away an hour of light-hearted good fun.”
