5 Nonalcoholic Sips for the Upcoming Holiday Season

by | Nov 13, 2018

The holidays are coming up and for many, that means an excuse to consume generous amounts of alcohol in often very tasty ways. But for some, whether it’s because you need a break from the booze, are on a diet, pregnant or just want something that won’t leave you feeling awful the next morning, we’ve compiled a list of tasty nonalcoholic drinks to get you in the holiday spirit.

Cranberry | Dry Soda Co.
This sparkling soda from the Seattle maker’s Winter Celebration bottles is great year round but consider it for this upcoming holiday season for a tasty zero-proof alternative. Founder Sharelle Klaus started this business wanting a drink that didn’t compromise flavor for being nonalcoholic. Dry Soda’s Sparkling Cranberry is ideal for pairing with those meaty meals like that turkey dinner and for any fruit-forward dessert.

Harvest Moon | Lionheart Kombucha
If you’re looking for something healthy as a replacement to that cider or beer consider one of Lionheart’s kombuchas, made in Portland. The company started at first as a class on how to homebrew your own kombucha but quickly became a business a couple years later when owners Jared and Amanda Englund wanted to offer a low sugar option to the market. Their seasonal flavor Harvest Moon embraces the fall spirit with cranberries and apples plus little cinnamon and ginger.

Spiced Autumn Chai | Rachel’s Ginger Beer
Here’s a classic go-to for those who don’t want to indulge in an alcoholic drink but still want something delicious. Rachel’s Ginger Beer in Seattle is offering a special Spiced Autumn Chai flavor on tap in their stores throughout the Emerald City. Grab a growler of this so you can settle down in your pajamas and wrap yourself in a blanket by the fireplace.

Apple Cherry | Sheffield Cider
This Eastern Washington family operation produces sweet cider that will have you looking at the category in a whole new way. Wanting to introduce a nonalcoholic apple product to the market, the Empey family started Sheffield Cider on their farm. They offer a variety of flavors using traditional cider apples, including consider the Apple Cherry which is based on the Black Twig variety. The sweetest of their offerings, it’s perfect for sipping on while you enjoy a healthy helping of that pie you’ve been eyeing all night.

Chaibucha | Oregonic Tonic
There’s nothing like the spices of a good chai to get you in the mood for fall. The taste of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and ginger might as well be one of the official tastes of the season and Oregonic Tonic, based out of Portland, takes this classic drink and turns it into a seasonal kombucha flavor. Made with masala chai and evaporated cane juice, this drink is sweet but not too sweet, an ideal balance of flavors for fuelling a day of cooking or settling down to post dinner.
