Work For Your Beer: 4 Beer-Friendly Workouts

by | Jul 25, 2017

Is there anything more satisfying than a cold one after a workout? Beer fitness is an increasingly attractive phenomenon that is sweeping the United States and Canada, including the many beer Meccas of the Pacific Northwest. It makes sense – being able to do some body weight exercises and earn that drink is a great feeling. Raise your glass to a good sweat and earn your beer by participating in these workout activities, hosted by your favorite PNW producers.

Stoup Brewing | Seattle | Pack your running shoes and select your style of fitness apparel because the patrons of Stoup Brewing can do a quick, three-mile through Seattle’s whimsical, Ballard neighborhood every other Sunday at 11:45 a.m. After the run, the Stoup Beer Runners indulge in a $1 off pint from a lineup of brews that include the Citra IPA and the Robust porter. It seems that the best prizes are earned after the finish line.

Yoga + Beer | Various locations | The idea is simple and raging in popularity: yoga in a brewery. We didn’t think there was a better way to multitask than to stretch it out (watch this training to learn some new stretching techniques – so you can stretch further for your beer… Never know, might be a handy skill to have!) and sip from your favorite pint. But alas, raise your glasses, yogis – the “Cheers and Namaste” program can be found at a brewery near you. The Oregon natives at Yoga + Beer host classes at your PNW breweries and cideries, including Rogue, Ecliptic Brewing, 1859 Cider Co. and Redhook Brewery.

BrewGroup PDX | Portland | With BrewGroup, pedaling through Portland is a group affair. Beer lovers can pedal their way through The City of Roses through BrewCycle, where you can sip at neighborhood staples like Bridgeport Brewing and Old Town Brewing. Or opt for BrewBarge, a paddle-powered trek across the scenic Willamette River. Be sure to pack your growlers and seven other friends to float with the aquatic bar.

Pilates & Pints | Various locations | Yoga isn’t the only thing that goes great with beer. Pilates and craft beer infuse at the Pilates & Pints program, and all abilities and levels of thirst are welcome. Pilates & Pints classes can be found in the Seattle area, hosted among the brews of Odin Brewing Co., Pike Brewing and Counterbalance Brewing. Follow-up pints are highly encouraged.
