Spinnaker Bay Brewing Black High Heel CDA

by | Oct 8, 2015

There’s nothing conventional about Spinnaker Bay Brewing, a bold newcomer to Seattle’s Hillman City neighborhood: it is the only 100-percent woman-owned microbrewery in Washington State, and continues to surprise beer lovers with audacious creations. From the Scottish-style Keel Over ale to the “Don’t Panic! porter and not to be forgotten, 10.9-percent ABV Overboard barleywine, these brews exude attitude that is tenacious, not timorous. We recommend you hightail it to their taproom, where you can taste said tenacity and even refill your growler.

You could also “high heel” it, if you feel so inclined. Spinnaker’s Black High Heel Cascadian Dark ale—the femme fatale of the beer world—certainly coincides with the offbeat origins of its brewery. Also affectionately known around the brewery as “beer crack,” this inky ale is a fusion of IPA bitterness and malty, dark chocolate sweetness, leading to a rich smoothness that is dangerously easy to throw back.
