6 Spring Rosés from Oregon’s Willamette Valley

by | May 4, 2022

Springtime means it’s high time for rosé, and we’re filling up our glass with a wide variety of options. A hidden gem in the Willamette Valley for excellent rosés? The Yamhill-Carlton AVA.

From larger, well-known wineries to small production and special projects, there are so many creative choices to try. And no, they’re not all made from the area’s famed Pinot Noir. Though, we’re thrilled many of them are! Ahead of springtime events and warm-weather sipping, we’ve rounded up some of our favorites.

2019 Pet Nat Rosé of Pinot Noir | Joyful Noise | McMinnville, Ore.

This pétulant naturel lives up to its Joyful Noise namesake. It’s jampacked with bubbles and great flavor, paired with gorgeous color. Notes of peach candy and lemon shine through for easy sipping.
11% ABV | $20

2021 Sparkling Dolcetto Rosé | Chris James Cellars | Carlton, Ore.

It’s hard to believe a rosé can look like this, but the ruby red hue is real! Made from estate-grown Dolcetto grapes, this sparkling sip is just as delicious as it looks. On the palate, you’re met with juicy cherries and ripe apples, paired with bright acidity.
10.9% ABV | $32

2020 Pallino Rosé of Pinot Noir | Pheasant Hill Vineyard | McMinnville, Ore.

Don’t let the juicy color of this rosé fool you. It’s actually incredibly crisp and refreshing. Made with estate-grown Pinot Noir, it’s dry and aromatic, with subtle acidity.
12.5% ABV | $21

2021 Pinot Noir Rosé | Abbey Road Farm | Carlton, Ore.

The bright, playful pink hue of this rosé gives a glimpse of what each sip is like. It’s lively, fruity and dry, with notes of fresh strawberries, making for the perfect complement to a hot day.
12.2% ABV | $25

2021 Pinot Noir Rosé | Montinore Estate | Forest Grove, Ore.

The watermelon-hue of this rosé will draw you in at first glance. Made with Pinot Noir grapes, it features notes of peach on the palate, along with strawberry and cherry jam. It’s bright with balanced acidity with a clean finish.
12.8% ABV | $25

NV Brut Rosé | Gran Moraine | Yamhill, Ore.

Made using the traditional méthode champenoise, this non-vintage bubbly blend features Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. You’re met with aromas of fresh strawberry cake and white peach, with vibrant acidity and notes of tangerine, nectarine and watermelon rind.
12.5% ABV | $55
