Across the Pacific Northwest seedlings are sprouting, birds and bees are “buzzing,” and new life is being born again. However, it’s not just nature that’s giving life to new blood—throughout the region, new craft breweries are popping up left and right, opening their doors to reveal sudsy new brews for 2014. From British Columbia to Oregon, here are a few Northwest breweries to keep your eyes peeled for this spring.
Steel & Oak Brewing Company: Coming this spring to New Westminster, BC || As Steel & Oak Brewing Company gears up for their spring opening, they’re busy building the suspense of their beers. However, while no specifics have been released, it has been disclosed that patrons can expect to see a range of German, English and North American brews available on tap at their tap room, “coming soon.” Steel & Oak Brewing Company is one of 19 (yes, 19) new breweries expected to open in the region by the end of 2014. Recently opened breweries in the area include Black Kettle Brewing Company, Bomber Brewing, and Green Leaf Brewing Co., just to name a few.
Tin Dog Brewing: Opened Feb. 15, 2014 in Seattle || This “nano-sized” newcomer to Seattle’s brewing scene recently opened its doors after setting up shop nearly one year ago. Using a two-barrel brewing system to turn out batches of their sudsy offerings, Tin Dog Brewing currently features a white IPA, dubbel, wit IPA and Northwest pale ale in their tap room. Open since Feb. 15, Tin Dog Brewing invites beer drinkers to visit their tasting room and grab a pint, or fill a growler to enjoy at home.
Royale Brewing Company: Inaugural beer release is Apr. 1, 2014 at Fremont Ridge in Portland || While Royale Brewing Company has yet to nail down its own location, the brewery, which is the latest project from the individuals behind Green Bottling (Oregon’s first mobile bottle company), will be launching the release of their first three beers at Portland’s Fremont Ridge on Tuesday, Apr. 1, 2014. The available brews will include Royale’s Fat Unicorn Pale, The Visitor red ale, and the Royal Porter. Until landing a permanent location, the trio responsible for the brewery plans to self distribute throughout the region.
As the Portland-area brewing scene continues to thrive, other breweries currently in the works include Baerlic Brewing Company and Old Castle Brewing Company.
