We Dig: Booze on the Move

by | Feb 14, 2017

The Northwest is notorious for tasty food and great drink. After food carts began popping up to celebrate the marriage of local cuisine and the eclectic uniqueness the region offers, it was only natural for alcohol to follow the leader and try its luck at the cart craze. These five different businesses are the success stories — most hailing from Oregon thanks to different mobile cart regulations — and continue to serve up everything from “farm-to-garden” cocktails to homemade small batch brews.

Union Wine Co. || This tricked out vintage French Citroën H Van is living the dream and serving Oregon wine from Union Wine Co., including the Underwood, Kings Ridge and Alchemist wines. Traveling to different events around the country, this one-of-a-kind wine truck delivers and caters liquid joy to different cities from coast to coast. If you happen to be in Texas this week, catch them in Dallas bringing Oregon to the Lone Star State.

Le Tap || When the weather permits, this handmade cart carries 15 taps for different brews, unique ciders and wines providing the Portland neighborhood of King with drinks at their freshness peak. Always open for recommendations on their costumers new favorite brews, Le Tap tries to always have the “latest and greatest” and is constantly switching it up. Be on the lookout for their newest booze cart coming to Sellwood neighborhood soon.

Scout Beer || Starting with humble beginnings is something Scout Brewing knows all about. Opening in 2009, they started cranking out small batch brews and catering to smaller private events with their 1978 Ford Pickup mobile tap system. Today, they have a beer garden surrounded by some of the best food trucks in Portland at Tidbit Food and Farm Garden and a newly opened taproom. Luckily for beer drinkers on the go, they’re still operating their beloved beer truck at the Tidbit Food and Farm Garden and catering to different events.

Happy Camper Cocktail || This adorable renovated 1966 Aladdin travel trailer-gone-mobile-bar has a dream to provide delicious cocktails to events in the greater Seattle area and different parts of Washington. From the farm country of Enumclaw, Washington, the home base locale inspires Happy Camper owners to utilize local agriculture and to take pride in creating seasonal cocktails that are just as beautiful as they are tasty.

Ciderlicious || Located conveniently right next to Awesome Taco and Bartolotti’s Pizza food carts in Eugene, Oregon, this cider-focused tap cart is open rain or shine and provides the people of this college town with 16 draft options, including local and regional ciders, beers and mead. Take a growler to go or sit on the heated patio to enjoy a pint of something good.
