From the folks that brought you the “damn fine ciders” of three college buddies who started a cidery in Corvallis, Ore. (2 Towns Ciderhouse), comes the story of Tradition Ciderworks—the handmade, artisan cider collection sourced from Oregon farm apples. Orchard-select or specially crafted, these ciders come from the orchards of smaller, honed farmers to produce ciders that highlight a place and time in Oregon cider history. With only 50 cases made, the 2011 Bourbon Barrel cider is aged for four months in both wheat and rye whiskey bourbon barrels, creating a robust and round cider full of vanilla, oak, red apple and lavender tones. The mouthfeel is dry, courtesy of firm apple tannins, but balanced with some sweetness of the oak through vanilla and caramel flavors.
