Stone Barn Brandyworks Golden Quince Liqueur

by | Dec 12, 2014

A heady, fragrant rush of apple butter, Bartlett pear and sun-sweetened plum and prune flavors cascade along with the juiciness of quince from Stone Barn Brandyworks’ slim bottle into your glass. Golden raisin is present too, backed by warm wintry mulling spices and an underscore of clay. But they’re all supporting cast members to what is unmistakably quince’s breakout role.

At 20 percent ABV, the Golden Quince Liqueur from this SE Portland distillery (and card-carrying member of PDX’s Distillery Row) is an opaque spirit with decadent sugars and remarkable tawny hue. A beautiful addition to your holiday liquor cabinet, it would serve as a tremendous mixer, but I’m afraid you’ll take one sip and be hard-pressed not to drink the whole bottle straight.
